DIY Custom Music Tray

The materials that you will need to make a sheet music tray are:

Primer

Paint

Tray

Sheet music

Scissors

Mod Podge

Paint brushes

Step One: Apply a coat of primer to the tray and let it dry.

Step Two: Apply a coat of paint to the tray and let it dry. It may be a good idea to apply 1 more coat of paint.

Step Three: Determine how you would like to arrange the music on the tray. You may have to cut it in strips or only use certain excerpts. How you want it arranged is completely up to you.

Step Four: Apply a layer of Mod Podge to the inside bottom of the tray.

Step Five: Carefully lay your music on top of the Mod Podge (in the arrangement you chose). Be careful to avoid bubbles. If they occur try to smooth them out with something that is dry. Your finger works well.

Step Six: Once you have the tray covered in music and all the bubbles and wrinkles out, apply a coat of Mod Podge to the top of the music. Let it dry.

Step Seven: Once it is dry apply at least one more coat of Mod Podge. This will act as a sealant so that your music doesn’t get destroyed. Allow it to dry completely.

A great idea for this tray is to use music that has a meaning. A common option is the music you and your spouse had at your wedding. The music makes the tray look so classic but the words give a special hidden meaning.

There you have a one of a kind music tray. A tray that is custom for you. This tray would also make a great gift for a music lover. Just apply their favorite song to the tray and you have made someone’s day.
